Statement by George P. Bush on the Red River Land Dispute and Potential Federal Seizure of Texas Land

AUSTIN, TX – George P. Bush, candidate for Texas Land Commissioner, today released the following statement regarding the recent reports that the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) intends to take over a significant stretch of Texas land along the Red River:

“The Bureau of Land Management needs to stop any plans it has to take over Texas land. This federal bureaucracy is considering claiming ownership of a 116-mile stretch of land along the Red River—land that has been owned by Texans for generations. BLM’s land grab is yet another example of the federal government’s overregulation and overreach into our lives. These are not the values that America was founded on. It’s unjust, unfair and won’t be tolerated and as the next Texas Land Commissioner, I will do everything in my power to stop it.”
